Adventures of the Aitken Family

We've known the Aitken family because our daughters attend the same karate class. Both girls started karate class at around 3.5 years old. I'm pretty sure they were one of the youngest kids that got started, even if they weren't, they sure seemed so. The two little girls were short and tiny, but on the dojo mat, they threw harder punches and screamed louder than a lot of older kids, even boys.

Last month, I had the honor to see the Aitkens in action through my camera. Prior to this photo session, I spent some time with three energetic little boys and I thought they were one of my hardest challenges. Yet the Aitkens, especially the older daughter Peyton (the karate girl), completely surprised me! Don't let some of these sweet photos fool you, this house is constantly on the move. We took the girls to their secret hill top spot, and boy, I mean girls, miss Peyton was climbing up the tree like a little monkey; completely fearless and ready to take down the world. She climbed up the trees so high my mind was trembling trying to decide if I should take more adventurous photos or put down the camera to be ready to catch her. Miss independence climbed up a tall branch and stood up high, "I am Peyton the explorer, and I am going to take over the world!" she roared.

Madison, the younger sister, is just the most adorable little munchkin! Besides following her sister's crazy adventures, she spent a majoirtity of the time munching! As long as she has a snack in hand, she's happy! Both my kids didn't start enjoying food until almost the age of 2, seeing someone so fond of food makes me so happy too!
